EVENT.
Hear My Voice combined portrait photography and sound to focus attention on vulnerability and strength. The photographer behind the project was Pavel Chervenkov.
The sound installation was created by Emiliyan Gatsov — Elbi. Eight prominent Bulgarian men shared personal stories about strength, fear, happiness and insecurity.
The faces and voices in the exhibition belonged to eight prominent Bulgarian men who shared personal stories of strength, fear, happiness and insecurity: Alexander Kadiev — actor and television presenter Georgi Gospodinov — writer and winner of the 2023 International Booker Prize Iliyan Djevelekov — director, screenwriter and producer Marten Roberto — DJ and radio host Ovanes Torosyan — actor Tsvetoslav Tsonev (Tsuro) — vlogger and director Yasen Zgurovski (Julieta Intergalactica) — visual artist and DJ Wosh MC — rapper
Visitors could stand face to face with the portraits and use a QR code to hear the men’s personal stories. Image and sound intertwined in a shared experience that prompted reflection on silence, breaking points and the courage to be honest. The project is part of #ArtAwakens — Emprove art initiatives that use creativity to open space for dialogue and awareness around human relationships and mental health.
